So if you're the DIY kind, keep reading for the steps on how to remove vomit from the interior of the car.

When you have vomit in the interior of a car, time is of the essence in removing it. Failing to clean the area properly can leave a stain and odor that is difficult to remove. Vomit is also acidic, so it can damage your car's interior if it isn't removed quickly.

The steps to complete the process of how to remove vomit in a car are relatively straightforward.

STEP 1:

First, carefully scoop up as much vomit as possible with a towel or other absorbent material. Use paper towels if nothing else is available (although it's not ideal). Whatever you use should be thrown away immediately so that nothing is left behind. If you have time, get your car professionally cleaned.

STEP 2:

Once you've removed the most significant chunks and pieces, you want to remove excess moisture. Press on an absorbent cloth or paper towel just hard enough to absorb liquid, but not so hard that you force the vomit further into the underlying surface.

STEP 3:

Lay a thick layer of baking soda over the area you're cleaning and leave it for about half an hour. This will help soak up all the excess smell and moisture you were unable to get with the absorbent towel. After 30 minutes, vacuum the baking soda off the affected area.

STEP 4:

After you have the bulk of the vomit up, spray a solution of 1/2 teaspoon dishwashing liquid to 1 cup warm water on the area where the vomit was. This should help break down any remaining traces of stomach acid that might be left behind, reducing how much it smells. Use paper towels to dampen the car interior, focusing on the areas where the vomit was.

Allow this to dry for at least an hour, then vacuum the interior of your car. You might also consider using baking soda to freshen up the interior of your car's carpets and keep them smelling fresh.
