How to Get Rid of Pet Hair in Cars (5 Easy and Awesome Tips)

Our pets are part of the family. They're always there for us when we need them most. But what we don't need is pet hair in our cars! Whether your pet only rides in your car occasionally, goes to work with you every day, or you consider yourself the proud parent of a fur-baby that rides along wherever you go, pet hair in your car can be a problem.

These are the five best tips for removing pet hair from your car.

TIP 1: Vacuuming

This one may seem a obvious to some but not to others. Any hair removal process should always start with a good vacuum to instantly pick up loose hair, dust, and other bits we don't want in the car.

When removing pet hair from your car, do not skip this step. We'll get down to the nitty-gritty, hard to remove hair in a little but before we even get there, always vacuum first. It's important to have a powerful vacuum that is built for interior car cleaning. We love this cordless handheld vacuum on Amazon for interior cleaning. It's super easy to use, durable, and so powerful.

TIP 2: Rubber

This is a different take on, "When rubber meets the road." One of the best ways to remove unwanted pet hair from your car is to use rubber gloves. That’s right, just like the bright yellow glove worn to scrub toilets (but don’t use that one!). You can use a household rubber glove typically used for cleaning. If you choose this option, it’s good to get the ones with nubs on the palm side of the glove. You can also use a latex glove (or Nitrile glove if you have an allergy or are sensitive to latex). We know it seems logical to use a lint roller for this but using your gloves is often more effective!

TIP 3: Rubber (again)

If you don't want to wear rubber gloves to remove pet hair, try another first option. Instead of the traditional lint roller that we all love and hate equally at times, reach for a rubber squeegee. We love this one for cars, windows and much more! Rub the rubber squeegee over the surface to remove pet hair from your car's seats, carpets, etc.

TIP 4: Pet Hair Magnet

Pet hair magnets are another clever way to remove unwanted pet hair from surfaces in your vehicle. These little adhesive sheets act like sticky velcro and can pick up some tough pet hair! You simply roll, lift and remove the sheet. It’s great for use on your car's carpets, seats (upholstery), rugs, fabric, more - just not clear or glass surfaces.

TIP 5: Rubber & Lint Roller

Last but not least, here is an easy way to remove pet hair from your car interior. Get a lint roller and rubber squeegee. Attach the lint roller on one side of the rubber squeegee.

Now you're ready to shake, roll and brush all that unwanted hair away!

BONUS TIP:

If you have small kids, they'll love this bonus tip to remove unwanted pet hair. Use an inflated balloon to attract pet hair through static electricity. This is a fun way to get your kids involved in helping you clean and teaching them about science.
